Revolut Ltd was launched in 2015 with the mission of building a global bank, to suit modern lifestyles and offer global spending and transfers without rubbish exchange rates. As well as bank accounts, money transfers, debit cards, they launched pay per day overseas medical insurance.
Unlike traditional travel insurance, where you pay for a set number of days to a specific country, Revolut uses geolocation technology to pin point where you are in the world and how long you remain there. Once you return to the UK, the cover is automatically disabled and you are charged for the exact number of days you are away. The maximum number of days per trip is restricted to 40 and for those who travel regularly there is a fixed price annual policy. Cover starts from as little as £1 per day.
If you choose to enrol in one of Revolut's account packages Standard, Premium or Metal, the travel insurance is free.
